Garment bag and dance bag

It is imperative that dancers prepare their dance costumes and garment bags before the day of the recital. The costumes and garment bags must be brought to all performances. All costumes, shoes, and accessories needed for dancing must be in the dance bag. It is your responsibility to communicate if adjustments need to be made to the costumes or if any items are missing. Costumes should be wrinkle-free, steamed, and hung up. Do not iron your costumes.

Your dance carrier should include performance and emergency items such as:

- All dance shoes
- (Women) Nude leotard and white tights, (Men) White t-shirt and black tight lycra shorts for costume changes.
- Hairspray/hair gel
- Hairbrush
- Bobby pins
- Safety pins
- Personal hygiene products (including dental)
- Snacks and water
- Earrings and all accessories (create a bag or box for accessories)
- Mirror
- Makeup
- IMPORTANT: Label your shoes, costumes (with adhesive tape), and all other items.

Hair and Makeup

(Women) Hair and makeup must be done before arriving at the performance venue. Makeup should be exactly as shown in the photo sent to the group chat. Hair should be pulled back in a bun. (Men) Hair should be styled in a way that the forehead is uncovered.

Backstage

Upon arrival at a performance, students must find the person in charge, sign the attendance list, and go to the corresponding dressing room where they will gather and store all their belongings, and change. You are responsible for all your items. Friends and family who are not chaperones are not allowed backstage. It is important to remember that backstage is not a place for playing and students must maintain discipline.

Dismissal

No parent or student is allowed to leave a show before it has finished. Before departure, all costumes and accessories should be hung and returned unless you are directed otherwise. Be sure to leave your area the way you found it. Gather all personal belongings, throw away the trash, and take your bobby/safety pins. Don’t forget to meet and greet your guests in the lobby after the show. You are welcome to meet and greet in costume, then come back to clean and return items.

Show Appreciation to Your Dance Teachers

What the audience witnesses is the flawless culmination of the recital, but hidden from view are the countless hours devoted to a myriad of tasks behind the scenes. These include selecting recital themes, editing music, choosing costumes, crafting choreography, negotiating facility contracts, orchestrating lighting rehearsals, determining the show order, printing programs, and constructing props, among others. Teachers invest these hours without additional compensation to ensure your child has the most remarkable show experience. Remember to express your gratitude to your dance teachers; such recognition means a great deal.

Audience

It is important to instill the following best practices when attending a theater production. These dancers have worked hard, and it is our job to give them our full attention and appreciation.

Keep cell phones on silent and put them away. These get in the way of professional videographers/photographers as well as other audience members.

Arrive at the theater early. If you are late, wait to take your seat between numbers.

Dress for the occasion. You are attending a live theater production, dress to impress.

Stay until the end of the show. No one enjoys performing for a half-empty audience. We should be supportive of our fellow dance mates.

Applaud for every number, all dancers have worked hard.

Show appreciation for your dance teachers. No one sees the hard work that goes on behind the scenes. Thank your dance teachers!

Congratulate and show appreciation for your dancer. It is best practice to gift flowers to your dancer at the end of a recital.

Portatraje y bolsa de danza

Es imperativo que los bailarines preparen sus vestuarios y portatrajes de danza antes del día del recital. Los vestuarios y portatrajes deben ser llevados a todas las presentaciones. Todos los vestuarios, zapatos y accesorios necesarios para bailar deben estar en el portatraje de danza. Es su responsabilidad comunicar si necesita ajustes en el vestuario o si faltan artículos. Backstage

Salida

Viste para la ocasión. Estás asistiendo a una producción teatral en vivo, vístete para impresionar.

Quédate hasta el final del espectáculo. A nadie le gusta actuar para una audiencia medio vacía. Deberíamos apoyar a nuestros compañeros de danza.
